Finding for a problem for a research has always been my problem (Despite I have so many problems... Hehehe) every time I want to engage myself in research and even giving advice to my students having their thesis.
When I sought admission at TIP-QC, I was asked to submit a concept paper on the areas I to focus for my dissertation. I mentioned in my paper that I want to research on the application of IT in agriculture and fisheries since I live in a region where these are the source of living of most of the Ilocanos.
One concept I have in mind is “Fuzzy Logic-Based Cured Tobacco Leaves Grader with Image Processing.” My research during my immersion is a requirement analyzing using User Centered Design approach for a Fuzzy Logic-Based Cured Tobacco Leaves Grader with Image Processing. In my research, I made a proposal on the architecture of such system and I want to continue the research. The concept was forged because of the following reasons:
- The cured tobacco leaves are graded manually based on features like size, color, and texture which makes the process rigorous.
- The grader (farmer cooperators and private buyers’ grader) evaluate the leave based on the feature which makes the process subjective and is affected by other external factors.
- The subjectiveness of the process could result in inefficient and unreliable result.
Another concept I have in mind is “The Computer Literacy of Senior High School IT Teachers.” The Senior High in the country is on its full implementation. Some of the discussions I had with our dean at the College of Engineering of the University which I am affiliated with is the ideas whether the senior high will be able to prepare the students going to college. By 2018 all engineering courses will be offered four years already and some of the subjects supposedly thought at the college are offered already at senior high. The concept was thought with the following objectives:
- Assess level of computer literacy of senior high IT teachers
- Extent of benefits derived
- Degree of seriousness of problems encountered in the use of IT
These are the ideas I am conceiving in mind and through reading, I may be able to shed light how I may be able to move forward and conduct a research to one of the concepts I have if it's approved.
